Drake Owns The Night At OVO Fest 2013

Every great entertainer has that moment, that moment when you realize history is being made even while it's happening. Although at 26 years of age its safe to say Drake will have plenty more great moments, this years OVO Fest (Annual music fest founded by Drake in Toronto, ON) sure felt like the "Piece De' Resistance" in Drizzy's young career. At the conclusion of OVO Fest the artist commonly known as the Champagne Papi had many reasons to break out the Perrier Jouet bottles. The all star lineup that included names like Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Miguel, Big Sean, J.Cole, French Montana, 2 Chainz, Wale and The Weeknd wasn't all Drake had up his sleeve.

The most talked about moments will undoubtedly be P.Diddy and Ma$E reuniting for an on stage performance, TLC  performing with the help of Lil Mama as Left Eye, and Kanye West blessing the stage after much speculation that the two weren't seeing eye to eye. To make circumstances even sweeter Drake declared that moment with Kanye onstage the most important of his life.

At some point this will all be historical, we're watching an all time great artist creep up on his prime. Given the circumstances with the internet age and people consuming music and moments at a rapid pace, Drake is reaching that rarefied air and the kind of space that only Jay Z inhabits at an even faster rate than Jay Z could of. Drake handles this all humbly, almost too humbly to be left up to chance and good character traits.

To be humble on top in an art form that is known for a ridiculous amount of braggadocio is quite impressive and a quality Drake wears well. Make no mistake this years OVO Fest proved one thing in particular... Drake has power, the kinda power only a king boasts. Being able to pull all these premier acts on one stage shows the immense love and respect the music world has for the Champagne Papi. At 26 its clear that the world belongs to the kid from the 416.

Haus Of Givenchy

Givenchy Summer Menswear 2013
Whether it's the limited edition "Watch The Throne" styled pieces for Jay Z and Kanye West or becoming the premier couture/ready-to-wear line among hip Hollywood fashion circles one thing is clear... Givenchy rules. Givenchy comes off as dark and powerful, something rebellious young royalty with a penchant for wild nights in Monaco at the Billionare club would wear. The religious imagery and choice of colorways serve as the foundation of one of fashion's hottest lines. Check out some of this summer's hottest wear.

Basquiat: Graffiti Grandeur

The New York art scene in the 1980's was unlike any time before or after it. This was the epicenter of the art world, accompanied with the fact that the overflow of excitement, innovation and exposure to culture was at a fever pitch.. Then enters Basquiat.

Fine art even if it was from the streets was taken to the galleries and became thought of as bourgeois, esoteric and unattainable. When the art world laid its eyes on Jean Michel Basquiat the lines blurred between what was fine art in NYC and what the streets of NYC were really like. Basquiat was everything fine art is and isnt, he had the unique ability to translate street energy into world renowned premier artistry. Basquiat was the genius child from the barrios of New York City that became the King of the contemporary art world.

The paintings were ambitious, his work screamed at the dead, all of the legends before him and all of those who were of grand influence were depicted within his works. These paintings spoke to the world in a way that arguably no one else has ever done. Many of us all dream to have high skill level in various forms of artistry whether it be music, sports etc.,what makes Basquiat's work so remarkable is the fact that it is done in a manner that translates to the common man while peaking the interest of the most sophisticated of fine art connoisseurs as well as the Larry Gagosian's  and Andy Warhol's of the world.

Basquiat is a timeless icon, inspiration and muse of pop culture. More so than ever more people are discovering his works and the story of his life. In a time where the internet information can be passed from world to world it seems like at an light speed pace the legend of Basquiat will continue to grow, and so will his omnipresent grip on the universe.
