Every great entertainer has that moment, that moment when you realize history is being made even while it's happening. Although at 26 years of age its safe to say Drake will have plenty more great moments, this years OVO Fest (Annual music fest founded by Drake in Toronto, ON) sure felt like the "Piece De' Resistance" in Drizzy's young career. At the conclusion of OVO Fest the artist commonly known as the Champagne Papi had many reasons to break out the Perrier Jouet bottles. The all star lineup that included names like Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Miguel, Big Sean, J.Cole, French Montana, 2 Chainz, Wale and The Weeknd wasn't all Drake had up his sleeve.
The most talked about moments will undoubtedly be P.Diddy and Ma$E reuniting for an on stage performance, TLC performing with the help of Lil Mama as Left Eye, and Kanye West blessing the stage after much speculation that the two weren't seeing eye to eye. To make circumstances even sweeter Drake declared that moment with Kanye onstage the most important of his life.
At some point this will all be historical, we're watching an all time great artist creep up on his prime. Given the circumstances with the internet age and people consuming music and moments at a rapid pace, Drake is reaching that rarefied air and the kind of space that only Jay Z inhabits at an even faster rate than Jay Z could of. Drake handles this all humbly, almost too humbly to be left up to chance and good character traits.
To be humble on top in an art form that is known for a ridiculous amount of braggadocio is quite impressive and a quality Drake wears well. Make no mistake this years OVO Fest proved one thing in particular... Drake has power, the kinda power only a king boasts. Being able to pull all these premier acts on one stage shows the immense love and respect the music world has for the Champagne Papi. At 26 its clear that the world belongs to the kid from the 416.
